Phil Bater Resigns as Club Manager

As you may have read on the club forum, it has been confirmed by Clevedon Town FC that Phil Bater has resigned from his post as club manager, and it is hoped that an announcement may be made soon about his successor. Phil joined the club in October 2005 and his first match resulted in a 2-0 win at Bracknell. Since then he has taken the club to the First Round proper of the FA Cup for the first time in its history, gained promotion back to the Southern League Premier Division in 2005/06 and also taken us to the Errea Cup Final this season. In all Phil started 155 matches (two abandoned) and enjoyed 64 wins and 36 draws in that time, selecting 72 different players during his career at the club. Phil will be the first to praise his assistants in that time, Any Eisentrager and Wayne Powell but if the buck stops with the manager then so should much of the the credits.
Phil was always popular with the supporters and players and his approachability and honesty will be missed, if not his jokes. I’m sure we all wish Phil the very best of luck in whatever job he decides to take next and I’m sure our paths will cross again. Many thanks again Phil and best wishes to you and your ever patient wife for the future, from everyone at Clevedon Town Football Club.
