Team Bath 1 Clevedon Town 1
Clevedon travelled to Twerton Park to play promotion favourites Team Bath. An entertaining game saw both sides come away with a point.
Manager Phil Bater fielded the same team that drew with Bashley on Saturday, and the Seasider’s nearly found themselves taking the lead in the first minute when a defensive mix-up by the home side allowed Mike Symons to win the ball on the edge of the area, however, his shot skimmed the wrong side of the post. Team Bath settled and played some neat passing football as they tested the Clevedon defence, it came as no surprise when they took the lead in the 21st minute, Mike Perrott made a good run into the visitors penalty area and his pass found Matt Lock, who slotted past Danny Greaves to make it 1-0. A buoyant Team Bath continued to probe Clevedon’s defence, however the Seasiders stood firm and looked dangerous on the counter attack, with both Kris Leek and Josh Brigham making excellent runs towards Team Bath’s goal. Phil Bater was dealt an injury blow in the 33rd minute when Mike Trought had to be replaced with Danny Haines. The rest of the half was played out with both teams looking likely to score, however, the score remained at 1-0.
Second-half kicked off with Clevedon looking the stronger of the two sides as Kris Leek out ran his marker only for his goal-bound shot to balloon off the home keepers legs, minutes later Mike Symons found his way into the visitors area, his pass found Leek who again saw his shot blocked by a defender. Team Bath were on the back-foot as Clevedon continued to threaten and on the hour they were rewarded when an excellent run and pass by Kris Leek found Mitchell Page who slotted home from 6 yards. Five minute later Team Bath manager Ged Roddy, made a double substitution in an attempt to get something from the game, however, it was Clevedon who looked the stronger and more creative as they played towards the final whistle. Team Bath had a couple of chances near the end, when Matt Williams saw his shot cooly cleared off the line by Geraint Bater, and Matt Townley saw his superbly struck free-kick tipped over the bar by Danny Greaves. The final whistle blew with both sides sharing the points.
