Clevedon progressed to the next round of the Somerset Premier Cup to meet winners of the Paulton Rovers vs Weston-super-Mare tie with a comfortable 5-0 win at a damp Hand Stadium.
First half started with Clevedon well on top, Tyrone Toppar nearly scored after a great run in the 3rd minute. On 17 minutes Steve Cook put the home side ahead with a clever chip after a misunderstanding in the visitors defence. Clevedon then relaxed and treated the game rather to casually and they allowed Bishop Sutton to create three good chances which they failed to take. However, the home side woke up and Mike Symons missed two half chances just before the half-time whistle.
Phil Bater clearly had words with his side over the half-time cuppa and they showed rather more urgency as the second-half got under way. After sending one long range shot just wide, it was Kris Leek who added the second with a scorching shot from the right. It was then time for substitutes Kyle Bassett and Mitchell Page to take over from Steve Cook and Mike Symons. Bassett added a third in the 66th minute when his shot squeezed through the legs of visiting goalkeeper Ashley Clark. Mitchell Page then added two further goals in the 72nd and 87th minute to round of a comfortable win as Bishop Sutton started to tire.
A good win in the end for Clevedon after a lethargic first-half performance.
