Clevedon slam 6 past Supermarine to fly into the semi-finals.
Clevedon travelled to Hunts Copse, Swindon, and slammed six goals without reply past their hosts, Swindon Supermarine, tonight to reach the semi-finals of the Errea Cup for the first time in the club’s history. With Christian Sylvester restored to the line-up after suspension, Clevedon gave Matt Prosser and Mike Symons a rest on the bench alongside veteran
Andy Eisentrager as they kicked off on a cold, dry night in Wiltshire.
What was to follow was to become Clevedon’s best away win since they beat Dawlish Town 8-0 in the Western League in December 1992, and their first six goal haul since they beat Redditch 6-0 in December 2001. There was another amazing statistic tonight as well when our former coach, Andy Eisentrager, came off the bench to make his first appearance for the Seasiders since the 1988/89 season, and he still looks so young! The scoring began in the seventh minute through top scorer Mitchell Page, and this was followed by further goals by Josh Brigham on 23 and Scott Hendy, scoring in consecutive games for the first time for us, two minutes before the half time break.
With Swindon apparently already in disarray, Clevedon continued to rack up the goals through Danny Haines (66 Minutes), making an amazing 63rd cup start for the club, Kyle Bassett (70) and finally Christian Sylvester on 87 minutes. This fine win put Clevedon through to the semi-finals where they will join Kings Lynn, Hillingdon Borough and Didcot Town for a chance to reach the Errea Cup Final.
