Bromsgrove Rovers 1 Clevedon Town 0
The Seasiders were sitting in fifth position in the BGB Premier Division ahead of the game at the Victoria Ground but it was Bromsgrove Rovers who almost took the lead on 13 minutes. As the ball came across Anthony Robinson he shot low to the left of Danny Greaves who pulled off a fine save. Moments later Town got their first break. Kyle Bassett chased a poor clearance and got the ball to Kris Leek who chipped the ball over the keeper. The ball was cleared from going in the net by the Rovers defender Chris Duggan. Bromsgrove controlled the midfield for most of the first half. However on 31 minutes a poor backpass by Daryl Burges saw Mitchell Page get on the end of it where he tried to lob the keeper. Chris Taylor just managed to get his hands to the ball and hang on. The referee produced a yellow card on 35 minutes for Matt Birley for diving in the Seasiders penalty box. The last action of the half saw Christian Sylvester put the ball into the box. Chris Duggan mimicked the ball and Mitchell Page fired wide.
The only goal of the afternoon came at the start of the second half on 49 minutes. A low cross from Sam Alsop saw Alex Towley shot beat Danny Greaves and end up in the corner of the net to make it 1-0 to Bromsgrove. For the rest of the second half Town had most of the play and their best chance fell on 58 minutes when Danny Haines crossed the ball which was well brought down by Matt Prosser in the six yard box. However his shot was weak and was cleared off the line. On 73 minutes a free kick taken by Kris Leek saw Scott Hendy header over the bar. Mike Symons who had come on as a sub won the ball on 82 minutes and passed the ball out wide to Kris Leek. The resulting shot was well saved by Chris Taylor. The last chance of the game fell to Mike Symons. A corner dropped to Symons in the six yard box but the ball was blocked by the defender. A few minutes later the referee blew the final whistle which brought the end to the game and saw the Seasiders first defeat in 2008.
