Clevedon Town 3 Willand Rovers 1
Clevedon progressed to the next round of the FA Cup, after defeating a hard working Willand Rovers at the Hand Stadium.
Very few chances were created by either side in the first half, the first attack of the game resulted in a 25th minute Clevedon goal, when Mike Trought's cross was flicked on by Leon Hapgood for Rob Scott to slot past the visiting keeper for his first goal of the season, Willand should have leveled the score ten minutes later when Richard Pears ran through Town's defence only for his goal bound shot to be blocked by Danny Greaves. Just before half time Leon Hapgood's fierce shot was superbly saved by visiting keeper Nathan Whatley and the score remained at 1-0.
Second-half started with Willand Rovers going in search of an equaliser, however, their efforts were made more difficult in the 55th minute, when defender Steven Shore brought down Jack Pitcher in the area, and Skipper Leon Hapgood, comfortably slotted home from the spot. Rovers pulled a goal back in the 61st minute when a long range Richard Pears shot eluded Danny Greaves and ended up in the top right hand corner of the goal to make it 2-1. Manager Phil Bater immediately brought on Tom Jacobs for Matt Rawlins, and the young striker rewarded his manager with a superbly taken goal in the 66th minute, when he turned and shot from 15 yards. Rovers gave Clevedon a few late scares with efforts from Richard Pears, James Ansell and substitute Aaran Pugh. Match ended 3-1 with the Seasiders stretching their unbeaten run to five games.
