Clevedon Town 2 Wealdstone 2
Clevedon Town earned a draw after going two goals down to a hard working Wealdstone side.
First half opened with Wealdstone battling for every ball on the pitch and it came as no surprise when they opened the scoring in the 18th minute, Matt Gooderick found some space on the right and lobbed Danny Greaves for a fine goal. Clevedon came close to equalising during a ten minute spell when Leon Hapgood’s free kick went narrowly wide of the far post, Pete Sheppard headed straight at the visiting keeper, and Leon Hapgood hit the crossbar with a 20 yard drive. Just before half-time the Stones doubled their lead when Graeme Montgomery’s defected shot beat Danny Greaves at the near post much to the delight of the traveling supporters. Wealdstone ended the first half with further attempts from David Lawrence and Dean Papali.
Second half started with Wealdstone happy to contain Clevedon and hold onto their first half lead, however, Clevedon manager Phil Bater had other ideals and brought on Mitchell Page for Matt Rawlins, very few chances were created by either team during the half and the seasiders left it until the 82nd minute to get back into the game when Jack Pitcher made a great solo run from midfield to slot the ball under John Armand in the visitors goal. Seasiders equaliser came five minutes later, when the battling Pitcher won the ball on the touchline allowing substitute Sean Seavill to link up with Mitchell Page who made no mistake in front of the visitors goal. In the dying seconds Pitcher nearly stole it for the home side when had a shot blocked on the line by John Armand. Clevedon extend their unbeaten run to 7 games.
