Match Report

King's Lynn 0 Clevedon Town 0

Clevedon put in an excellent performance against all the odds, with a playing squad down to the bare bones through injury and suspensions, however, Phil Bater’s remaining players worked tirelessly against their much fancied opponents and, could easily have won the game with some of the few chances created.

Clevedon adopted their usual 4-5-1 formation and started brightly against pre season title contenders King’s Lynn and, could have taken the lead in the first ten minutes when Matt Rawlins narrowly failed to connect with Andy Gurney’s superb cross. The Linnets were restricted to a couple of long range efforts but Clevedon’s defence dealt comfortably with these. The home fans were quiet throughout the match and were not happy with their teams performance when the sides went in level at half-time.

Clevedon started the second half in much the same vain as the first, with Man-of-the-match Hanin Romdhane chasing every ball. The home side were unable to break down a solid Clevedon defence and Danny Greaves only save of note came late on when he was forced to make a save to his left from a low effort. In the last few minutes of the half recent signing Andy Gurney shot from the edge of the box which the home keeper did well to push out for a corner. In the end both team shared the points, and a special mention must go to the six hardy soles who travelled and encouraged Clevedon throughout the day.
