Clevedon Town 2 Chippenham Town 3
An injury hit Clevedon faced a full strength Chippenham Town side intent on improving on their slow start to the season. Both sides took time to settle in the first half but it was Chippenham who should of opened the scoring on 19 minutes when David Gilroy just failed to connect with Alan Griffin's low 6 yard cross, Chippenham continued to push forward looking for an opener when on the half hour Clevedon broke with Mitchell Page making a great solo run to slot the ball past Chippenham keeper Steve Perrin and score his first goal for the Seasiders. First half ended with both sides creating a couple of half chances.
Chippenham manager Darren Perrin was clearly unhappy with his teams first half performance by bringing on Sam Allison and Kevin Haliday for Andy Robertson and Alex Stanley. The reshuffled Chippenham nearly scored in the opening minute of the half when David Gilroy flashed wide with a header, Both Peter Sheppard and Tom Jacobs had chances to increase Clevedon's lead, however, ten minutes into the half and Danny Maye's shot could only be blocked for Alan Griffin to slot home an equaliser for the visitors. Clevedon's injury woes continued when Kris Witcombe had to be replaced by lone substitute Ben Willshire, minutes later Chippenham took the lead when Alan Griffin pulled the ball back for David Gilroy to head home. However, Clevedon continued to battle away and Billy Clark headed home a well worked free kick from James Zabek to make 2-2. With minutes remaining Chippenham made their final substitution with Paul Milsom replacing Alan Griffin, the move paid off for the Bluebells in the 88th minute when Milsom scored the winner after some good work by Allison and Maye.
